TEALwatch® Power Monitor Software and Firmware Updates

TEALwatch® - Software and Firmware Updates

The TEALwatch® power monitor is now available with the Active Email Notification option (available in Release 3.0 or higher versions of the firmware, which can be downloaded below). For more information on Release 3.0, please download this PDF file.

The TEALwatch® power monitor is a completely self-contained Linux based web server. This web server is being utilized as a power monitor with custom software and algorithms designed by TEAL Electronics.

The hardware and software platforms are both very flexible and allow firmware updates to be executed over the Internet to update the TEALwatch® when required.

Firmware updates will be made available from time to time, and can be used to update the TEALwatch® remotely if the TEALwatch® is connected to the internet and remotely accessible.

How to I tell the firmware rev I have?

The Firmware Version is shown under the "Home" tab of the TEALwatch® webpage. The example below shows the firmware version to be "2.0.0 (BUILD 83)"

Update -February, 2007

TEALwatch Firmware Release 3.0 Installation Procedure (to upgrade from firmware release 2.0):

1. Save the file that TEAL provided (either via email attachment or a download from our website), “image.bin.gz” to your local hard-drive or other storage location on your PC. This is the firmware update data file. DO NOT UNCOMPRESS THE FILE, as the TEALwatch needs the compressed file.

2. Connect to the TEALwatch via the Ethernet connection (see manual section 1.3 – 1.8 for details).

3. Once you have connected to the TEALwatch and the TEALwatch webpage comes up, select the “Status” tab and scroll to the bottom of the page.

4. Click on the “Download All Files” button and save the data set to your local drive. We recommend saving it to a folder with a location appropriate folder name such as “test bay 1” and a date code such as “01/24/07” to help identify the file at a later date.

5. Click on the “Download Trend data” button and save the data set to your local drive (we recommend saving it to the same folder as the previous step).

6. In the TEALwatch website, select the “N/W Admin” tab at the top of the page (see manual section 3.7 for details).

7. The N/W Admin section requires a password for access. Log in using the “Login” NETWORKADMIN and “Password” NETWORK (these are the defaults, your login may be different).

8. Under the “Network Configuration of the Power Monitor” section you will find the MAC address (it is the second thing listed and is a 12 digit alphanumeric code similar to “00-0F-27-00-01-3B”. Write this MAC address down for later use.

9. Next, click on the “Home” tab which clears the passwords from previous logins and allows you to login to a different tab.

10. Next, go to the “Advanced” tab at the top of the page (see manual section 3.8 for details).

11. The Advanced section requires a password for access. Log in using the “Login” MASTERADMIN and “Password” MASTER (these are the defaults, your login may be different).

12. Scroll down to the “Update Power Monitor Firmware:” section.

13. Click the Browse button next to the “Firmware File:” field.

14. Browse and select the new firmware file “image.bin.gz” from the stored location on your PC.

15. Click the “Update Firmware” button. If the file is not recognized, it is most likely uncompressed, so please leave the file in the compressed state.

16. In a few minutes, the firmware should be updated and the TEALwatch should reset itself. You can check this by clicking on the “Home” tab at the top of the page. The “Firmware Version” is the third item down the list. It should read 3.0 or higher.

17. If your company has purchased the OPTIONAL “Active E-Mail Notification” feature, or if you would like to, please contact TEAL for information & for the code to activate your email notification feature (or if you would like to demo it for 30 days). Send an email to marketing@teal.com with the MAC address of the specific TEALwatch that you wrote down in step 8 above with your request. The MAC address is the unique identifier for that specific TEALwatch. Included will be instructions on setting up the email notification feature.

Please contact the TEAL Marketing Department for availability and further information.
